I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked if I get bored running for hours and hours at a time. For me, it’s quite the opposite. There are very few activities that completely engage my body and mind like a good long run. While pushing myself that distance takes a ton of physical and mental strength, it’s also uninterrupted time to enjoy my surroundings.
Living in Saint Petersburg I think I often take the beauty of this place for granted. The route I run almost every morning is pretty much paradise. It’s no wonder Rock n Roll St. Pete, Women’s Half Marathon and St. Anthony’s Triathlon use part or all of this route.
Yesterday, during my 20 mile training run I decided to document it. So here it is, 20 miles, on foot, in pictures.
Beautiful day, beautiful city, beautiful run… another 20 miles down.

Oh wow! So pretty! What wonderful sites to be able to run by on these long runs! I can’t believe you did 20 miles yesterday! I guess no taper for you. Is this for your 50k or for next weekend? Makes me feel like my 8 miler was under-doing it.
Thanks! Yep, still building up for Croom 50k. A couple more long run weeks then a long taper for me too.
That was such a treat for my eyes! It was gloomy all morning in Minnesota, and is now snowing! Thanks for posting!
Your beautiful pictures made me SO jealous. I used to live in St. Pete and I miss my beloved city very much.
I love this post! I run many of these same areas.
Good luck this weekend at Gasparilla!
