Ironman 70.3 Augusta Training Recap: Week 10

Ten weeks done already. Time flies.

The beginning of the week went well. I was still recovering and a little bit dehydrated from last weekend but managed to get some miles in one way or the other.

Wednesday night’s open water swim was almost comical. There was so much seaweed in the water I felt like I was swimming in a swamp. Someone once told me the Mad Dog swims will prepare you for any race day condition. After a few months I now completely understand what they meant. There is usually a little bit of a chop out there but besides that it’s always a completely different swim for me.

I had intended to do a longer brick on Sunday but made the decision to bike only 30 miles and run 3 miles.  I knew I just wasn’t ready to take on the 50 miles on my training plan and thought it would be the smarter idea to do what I knew I could. I was pretty bummed out about it at the time but in hindsight, I’m glad I made the decision. I hope to bump up the miles this weekend.
