Ironman 70.3 Augusta Training Recap: Week 13

This was a big week with a lot of miles. 111 of them to be exact ;-)

The closer I get to race day the more and more nervous I’m getting. I guess that’s pretty obvious after my total meltdown on Saturday’s bike ride.

I’ve recently been finding that if I do a long run Saturday and a long ride Sunday (or vice versa) my Sunday workout suffers. My knees also take a beating and I spend the begining of the following week recovering.

This week I decided to do my long run on Thursday before work instead. It was a very early morning but I was happy to have it done before the weekend and be able to focus on Saturday’s ride.

I used Sunday as a recovery day with an easy three miles and some Yoga + Dali with Caroline.

My knees seem to like that plan better as well.

Monday:

  • AM- 3 mile run
  • PM- 2000 meter swim

Tuesday:

  • AM- 18 mile bike

Wednesday:

  • PM- 25 mile bike
  • PM- 1000 meter swim

Thursday:

  • AM- 10 mile run

Friday:

  • REST DAY

Saturday:

Sunday:

  • AM- 3 mile run
  • PM- Yoga + Dali

I have a feeling this week is going to include a lot of indoor training. Even though Tampa Bay was extremely lucky to miss most of the bad weather from Tropical Storm Isaac, the 7-day forecast still looks pretty wet.

Good thing I DVR’d hours of Law & Order: SVU to watch on the trainer ;-)
