Ironman 70.3 Augusta Training Recap: Week 17

I got chills when typing the title for this post. I’ve finished week 17 of 18. I can’t believe it’s race week.

This week began my taper. I mentioned in my last post that I was traveling the first couple days of the week. That definitely made it easier to fall into a more relaxed routine.

I had two really great workouts this weekend, a bike/run brick on Saturday…

and a 10-mile run on Sunday.

Both felt great.

I remember thinking during Saturday’s run that it was the first time in weeks that my legs felt normal. My knees weren’t achy and my legs didn’t feel as heavy as they’ve been feeling. I took 11 minutes off my time from last weekends 10-miler.

There is definitely something to be said about rest both physically and mentally.

Monday:

Tuesday:

Wednesday:

  • Rest Day

Thursday:

  • AM- 3 mile run

Friday:

  • AM- 1 mile swim

Saturday:

  • AM- 20 mile bike/2 mile run brick

Sunday:

  • AM- 10 mile run

That wraps up my last full week of training. This week will be a couple easy work outs and a lot of relaxing.

We are leaving Friday morning for Augusta. For updates this week and weekend be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter!
